And more space and time and money and time and space and money....JUST LOOK AT THIS. Even if it’s the “majority-picked bastard-child in the Mustang family”, $800 for that?? Whoever buys this is getting one hell of a deal if you ask me. I don’t even care if it needs “minor floor repair”.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

It’s a clean-looking, running and driving, low mileage(61,000 MILES) Mustang II for $800!!! (o_O)

That is one very blue interior. It’s far from a good car, but everyone needs to experience a malaise car just once.

Unless you plan on making a drag car not worth it. Even if you do make a drag car there are better options at 800 dollars.

I do like the blue interior though.

Would be perfect for a budget junkyard turbo LS setup.

Now, are we saying that just because it’s a Mustang II, or is there actual non-typical reasons beyond and aside from making it a drag car as to why it’s not worth it. :p

That interior is cool but I still wouldn’t buy it because it’s coupe. If it was fastback it would appeal to me more.

S10 from the early 90’s has better aftermarket support to make a fast drag car for $800 bucks.

But honestly I just think the Mustang II (minus the Cobra) was a bad and dark moment in American car history.

To be fair, it’s more of a hatchback than a fastback. No one ever calls the Fox Mustangs fastbacks and they look exactly the same.

I think the coupe looks nice.

Engine swap or de-emissionsization and custom suspension time. Because otherwise, it’s not exactly the muscle car it was made out to be...

Yeah, that’s true. Fastback was just the first term that came into my mind. Hatchbacks look nice but coupes are ugly imo.

Lemme ask you this. Dark part of American History, or Car Enthusiast History?

Let’s of course completely ignore that the Mustang II for all intent and purposes was a sales success, is exactly what an enthusiast would want after the ‘71-73 cars(big heavy boats, to light and compact), and was a child of the times in which gas prices were high; making the freed spewing V9s not so much of a viable option.

Because all of that is bad right? So are we knocking it because it doesn’t have a fire breathing V8, or am I missing something else here.

Literally the worst Mustang ever built.

I would say it was a bad time for both American history and American car enthusiast.

When one looks at American history during the decade we see a vast amount of stagflation occurring. Some even say Carter was the “King of Stagflation.” Furthermore we begin to see the first massive cuts to the space program which begins our slow decline as a world leader of science. Then we have the Iranian hostage situation and the fall of the Shah of Iran. Then we could talk about the weak American presidents during the decade and the distrust in the American politician. I could go on.

As for car enthusiast yes it was a bad era as well. Look at Lincoln and Cadillac. They start to transition from a thriving luxury brand to companies that were out of touch with the consumer. They begin to invest too much into their past and not enough into their future. Next we have the gas crisis and emissions regulations. I would argue the regulations in the long run were a good thing but during the time it had drastic effects that hurt the industry. Consumers saw quality decrease as they started to move to foreign brands which further hurt the American economy. And the once beloved cars of the 60’s were weak and pathetic versions of their former selves. That isn’t to say they did not have merit and enjoyment to them but they certainly were not as enjoyable or as exciting as their 60’s counterparts. You could argue it is all perspective and peoples opinion but the fact of the matter is a running Mustang from the 60’s will always cost more and mean more than a Mustang II. Why? Better quality. Better styling. And most importantly a better fire breathing V8 engine.

It may have been a sales success. In fact it was a success.

Where are they all now?

Why are they rare?

Hint: They weren’t good cars.

Price isn’t bad.

I like Mustang IIs, but I’m not fond of the coupe. They took the original pony car and attempted to turn it into a personal (luxury?) coupe, in the same vein as the original Thunderbirds (albeit with considerably less luxury).

If this was a fastback, I’d be looking into delivery options right now.

Performance was bad for these, but NP. There are worse Mustangs out there (cosmetically)

On the Mustang II, I can’t see why not. Easy to wrench on, and its still American muscle deep down. Modern 5.0 swaps, getting rid of the old cat (Modern Hi-flows are cheap). Another $800 and I bet you could match the Sn95 (Although maybe not street legally).

Underrated mustang. Super light put in a fresh 302 and hoon it like that shit was just put into a ae86 corolla

People who talk shit about them know very little and probably group cars from 75-85 in the same “do not touch” category.

If I had to choose? 99+ SN95. Edge made it lots better and added some much needed power. Pre 99, I don’t like either at all...
